Legis Group announces weekly trust seminars - 20th April 2010

The local business community will have the opportunity to learn about the trust industry in a novel way during a series of seminars beginning next month.

The Legis Group, in conjunction with the GTA University Centre will be offering four weekly ‘Come Dine with Me’ themed sessions aimed at taking delegates through the nuts and bolts of trusts, from creation and administration, to termination.

Taking inspiration from the popular Channel 4 television series which sees wannabe chefs attempt to wow each other with their culinary skills, the course structure forms a dinner menu.

To start the meal is ‘the Creation of a Trust and 'Transfer in' of an existing Trust’, in the first seminar, followed by a main course of ‘Administration, decision making & distributions’. The series rounds off with a dessert of ‘Asset management, investments and property’ and ‘Termination and 'Transfer out'’ as a digestif.

The course will be hosted by Alison Parry, managing director of Legis Trust Limited, who has more than two decades’ experience in the offshore financial services industry and currently heads up the Legis Group’s trust and corporate services division.

‘The seminars will provide a comprehensive introduction to trusts and a ‘Come Dine with Me’ theme seemed like a fun way to bring to this subject to life’ said Ms Parry.

‘At the GTA, we aim to ensure that our programmes are topical, relevant and of a high standard and theming a course in this way helps to demystify the topic for newcomers to the trust industry’ said Kate Lenfestey, programmes supervisor at the GTA University Centre.

The seminar series will take place on Tuesdays over a four week period, from 18 May until 8 June, 4pm to 6pm. Anyone interested in booking a place should call the GTA on 721555 or email admin@gta.gg.
